The White House announced on Tuesday that American planemaker Boeing Co. reached a deal with India’s national flag carrier on the supply of as many as 220 aircraft in a deal with a listed price of about $45.9 billion.
Per the White House, Boeing will supply Air India with 190 planes of model 737 MAX, 20 aircraft 787 Dreamliners, as well as 10 of its 777X planes. However, the agreement included options for another 50 MAX jets and 20 Dreamliners.
Still, the order has yet to be finalized, according to Boeing, which didn’t reveal the timeline for the deliveries. Air India also unveiled an agreement with European planemaker Airbus to acquire 250 planes from the company, pushing the total worth of Air India’s purchase to around $85 billion.
